This page describes the device driver and the device window for the Low Latency Professional Baseband Converter Techex tx edge on tx core platform, controlled via REST HTTPs.

This driver covers only SRT/RTP and UDP for in and output configuration. Other protocols have to be implemented when needed.

It was developed and tested with

The driver can only handle one stream instance. As The tx edge can handle more than one "stream". Each instance has to be setup in a single device. The respective instance has to be configured at first setup via config.stream. The list of available routes/streams is determined at first driver start. If new streams are added the device driver has to be set Out-Of-Service and back to Operation to fetch those changes.

Please note. For receiving monitoring statistics like datarate for the in and outputs the txedge needs to be configured for sending telemetry using TLS/SSL. You can enable this as well as setting the interval on the tx core web ui : System > Telemetry > Skyline DataMiner. It is necessary to generate your own certificate for connection using the client certificate of the tx core. Default Port is 7834. In satnms you can define the port, password and certificate name as well

Steps to configure the Techex-TxEdge drivers / devices for TLS communication

1. Create a PKCS12 keystore from the cert files read from the TXCore:

openssl pkcs12 -export -out txcore.p12 -inkey client.key -in client.cer 

openssl prompts to select a password for keystore. e.g. 1234

2. Copy the keystore file txcore.p12 to /home/satnms/certs/ at the M&C

3. Edit the device configuration (client) to tell the M&C about the protocol and port.

Configuration parameters

At the maintenance page of the device window there are a couple of configuration parameters which must be set to make the software talk to the tx edge Gateway.

parameter description
address The Management IP address specification for the device. If authentification is enabled username and password have to be added. When using more than one device/stream, the address can refer to existing device via its device name
readBackDelay Defines the delay the driver uses when it reads back parameters recently commanded. The delay is initialized at a proved preset value which should not be changed under normal circumstances.
stream Defines the desired strean instance.
deviceComment An optional text entered here appears as an addition to the tooltip which is shown while the mouse is placed over a device icon in the GUI. The "\n" character sequence is translated into a newline character, splitting the text into multiple lines.
pkcsFile Defines the certificate name
pkcsPassword Defines the certificate password
pkcsPort Defines the telemetry port configured on the the tx core platform

HTTP session reuse

Multiple devices located in the same frame (using the same IP address) can be configured to share the same HTTP session. For this enter the IP address and login credentials at the 'address' config parameter of the first device. For all other devices enter the name of the first device instead. These devices then reuse the HTTP session / connection of the first device. This has several advantadges:
