Software deployment
Any software needs to run somewhere and that naturally applies to our sat-nms Monitoring & Control and Network Management system as well.
But we like to give our customers as many options as possible and make deployment easy. Therefore we support a various platforms and installation methods on any recent Linux distribution.
Supported platforms
A recent Linux distribution with some standard software packages
- on bare metal server(s)
- in virtual machines (Linux KVM/QEMU, VirtualBox, VMWare, ...)
- or inside a container (LXC, Docker, Kubernetes, ... )
Hardware platform
Of course, you can purchase the complete hardware and software package directly from us. Together with our valuable partner Thomas Krenn AG we deliver a bare metal server with the following specification:
- 1 HU rack mountable, compact and energy-efficient server
- State-of-the-Art hardware with SSD, ECC-RAM and server grade mainboard
- Two Gigabit Ethernet Ports and dedicated IPMI management port
- Redundant power supplies
- Preinstalled Debian Linux and sat-nms MNC software
- World wide Bring-In part replacement
Supported interfaces
- 10/100/1000 MBit/s Ethernet onboard LAN ports
- RS232/RS422/RS485 via Serial Port Servers
- Parallel interface - Digital I/O
- via sat-nms IO-FEP2 Frontend Processor
- via IO-to-Ethernet converters or PLCs
- GPIB via GPIB-to-Ethernet converters
Operating system
We prefer Debian Linux because of its stability and consistent use of free software. So it's our recommendation for the operating system. Our servers will be shipped with preinstalled Debian OS.
The sat-nms MNC software comes as Debian packages for easy installation, so other Debian derivatives like Ubuntu or Mint allow smooth installation as well. But feel free to use any other recent Linux distribution e.g. from Red Hat or SUSE and deploy the software from our tarballs.
Additional software packages
We want to protect our customers from additional dependencies and licensing costs. Therefore, we rely on free and unmodified open-source software for all additional tools. This includes, beside the operating system, well proven and reliable software packages like:
Your benefits:
No hidden costs, no proprietary modification of third party software and no vendor lock-in for the infrastructure,
but the freedom to install and run our software in your preferred environment.
Server Monitoring
Running a software in 24/7 operations requires also to know the server state at anytime. And what could be more obvious than monitoring the server status directly with our Monitoring and Control System?
Therefore the WebUI includes in overview about all servers and services currently running, but you get also insides of each server - regardless if this is bare metal or virtualized - with the include SYSINFO device.
- CPU, disk and memory usage
- Power supply and chassis state
- Availability of the backup servers
- User defined thresholds and alarming
